Most plot summaries of this show have the same limited, poor description. The best was from Grokipedia at https://grokipedia.com/page/The_Royal_Gambler :
Baek Dae Gil is a master gambler revealed to be the illegitimate son of King Sukjong. Yeo Jin Goo is his half-brother, Crown Prince Yeongjo, who later ascends to the throne as King Yeongjo. Set during the late Joseon Dynasty, it fictionalizes events surrounding the 1728 Musin Rebellion and the political machinations leading to Yeongjo's reign, centering on Dae Gil's journey from commoner to challenger of royal authority through gambling prowess. The Musin Rebellion is led by Yi In Jwa, a Soron sympathizer portrayed as the drama's primary antagonist.

These all have edited "soft" English captions; that is, English subtitles are part of the MKV files and the subtitles can be enabled or disabled as you wish.
I downloaded the source videos from several sources since they all seemed to be incomplete or have issues. After locating good English subtitles, I...
- Used a nonlinear video editor to trim off starting recaps, blur scrolling ads appearing in most episodes, and normalizing audio levels across all episodes
- Used Subtitle Edit (by Nikolaj Lynge Olsson) to find and fix all flagged issues
- Added 0.7 second to each subtitle (where possible) to allow more time to read them and adjusted words/minute to at least 280
- "Softened" all subtitled profanity (bastard --> jerk, damn --> darn, bitch --> witch etc.)
- Corrected commonly-found typos, converted many word pairs into common English contractions, and brought together sentence fragments
- Colored all media, signs, and flashback subtitles to salmon, yellow, and teal respectively
- Used Handbrake to create new MKV files using my subtitles
"Profanity is the parlance of the fool. Why curse when there is such a magnificent language with which to discourse?"
- Theodore Roosevelt
