He reached the summit on September 22 after a 16-hour climb from Camp IV through the "death zone" above 8,000 meters, then began his descent via the South Col Route. Due to darkness, he stopped overnight at Camp II before continuing the next morning, navigating the treacherous Khumbu Icefall on skis with guidance from a drone flown by his brother, Bartek.
