Drill Core is a game A strategic game in which we take control of miners drilling deep into alien planets. The game was developed by the independent Serbian studio Hungry Couch, whose portfolio includes the Black Skylands project. In Drill Core, we watch the action from a distance. The gameplay revolves around two pillars: extracting valuable resources and defending our drilling platform and our subordinates from attacks by aggressive alien creatures. During mining operations, we have only indirect control over our workers, being able to direct them to the next locations for excavation. As we descend deeper into the planet, we discover new mineral deposits, and over the course of subsequent missions, collecting as many of these minerals as possible is our primary goal. As we progress, we gain resources that we can use to purchase new technologies and upgrades to existing inventions. These resources not only increase the pace of work but also improve the safety of the miners. Work takes place exclusively during the day, while at night, our rig and our subordinates fall victim to massive attacks from creatures, the encounters reminiscent of tower defense games. Further complicating matters is the fact that in each mission, the game randomly selects both the monsters and the technologies available to us, as well as the various limitations it imposes on us. Since we can never be sure what challenges we will face on the next expedition, this forces us to be cunning, wisely manage our resources, and quickly adapt to the situation.
